WTA Diary: The Li & Genie Edition
Li Na

Every week there's a lot happening on the WTA - on the court, off the court, by the numbers, even a few tweets... catch up on it all in this week's WTA Diary.

Third Time's The Charm
Li Na had already won the hearts of the Australian public, but on Saturday evening she became their champion. A 76(3) 60 victory over Dominika Cibulkova saw her finally win the Australian Open and help erase memories of final defeats in 2011 and 2013.

Yet as good as her performance was - particularly in the second set - it was her post-match speech that stole the show.

Photobomb
From the moment she saved a match point against Lucie Safarova in the third round, everything came up trumps for Li in Melbourne. Everything apart from her celebratory photo shoot, that is.

Leading The Way
Victory in Melbourne has catapulted Li to the top of the Road to Singapore, which was officially launched in, erm, Singapore on Monday.

Down With The Kids
Australian Open semifinalist Eugenie Bouchard and WTA legend Chris Evert were on hand to help with the launch, popping into the city's ArtScience Museum for a forum with local students.

Quick Work
It's not yet February but Genie has already been forced to reevaluate her goals for the year.

Is That All?
On her arrival home, Li was greeted by a delegation of provincial officials waiting for her with a warm welcome and a cheque for 800,000 yuan (about $132,000).

Elsewhere This Week
Here's a quick rundown on everything else going down on the WTA this week, including S02 E01 of WTA Live All Access Hour and a significant milestone for Svetlana Kuznetsova.
