DUBAI, UAE - Alla Kudryavtseva and Anastasia Rodionova continue to establish themselves as one of the WTA's elite teams, the latest evidence of that being their semifinal victory on Friday at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

A day after upsetting No.2 seeds Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina, Kudryavtseva and Rodionova were 64 64 winners over Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Safarova, the same pairing they beat in their Doha opener last week.

"We were very aggressive on serves and returns," Kudryavtseva said. "We were moving a lot at the net and put a lot of pressure on them."

Their 40th win as a duo means the Russian-Australian combination have now made at least the final in four of their last six events and are sure to climb higher from the current position of seventh on the Road To Singapore doubles leaderboard.

"We're really good friends on and off the court," Rodionova said. "We've been playing together for a while. We have a really good understanding of each other. Sometimes, we know exactly what the other person is doing without communicating."

Winning their semifinal even more convincingly were Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears. The Americans converted on four of five break point chances in their 55-minute, 63 62 defeat of Flavia Pennetta and Samantha Stosur.

"We played a good team and we won playing the way we wanted to play," Kops-Jones said. "It wasn't always pretty, but we got through it and are looking forward to tomorrow."

The only previous clash between the finalists saw Kops-Jones and Spears win a tight two-setter in the first round of Rome last May. Kops-Jones and Spears will be looking for their ninth WTA title together and Kudryavtseva and Rodionova their fourth. Neither team has dropped a set all week.
