Peschke & Srebotnik Win In Indian Wells

Peschke and Srebotnik have an up-and-down history at Indian Wells, having won it in their first outing in 2010 and having lost their opener in their only appearance since in 2011. They came into this year's staging second on the Road To Singapore leaderboard in a season highlighted so far by a semifinal showing at the Australian Open and run to the final in Doha.
Down 6-5 in the first set against first-time pairing Timea Babos and Jelena Jankovic, Peschke saved set point with an ace, and she and Srebotnik overcame another set point in the tie-break, eventually going on to a 76(8) 63 victory.
"It's always difficult to play against really good singles players," Peschke said. "And they are obviously getting really good in doubles as well because they are playing more. Babos is a big server and also very solid from the backcourt. We tried to focus on every point. It was a tough first set that could have gone either way in the end."
"You want this kind of match," Srebotnik said. "You want to be pushed all the way. It keeps you strong and builds up momentum and sharpness. I always say I'm happier winning these kind of matches than having easy ones, where you don't have to deal with crucial moments. I'm happy now that we're through and that it turned out the way it did."
Thursday will be a dream day for doubles lovers, as it features a plethora of superstars. Those include doubles World No.2 Hsieh Su-Wei and doubles World No.1 Peng Shuai, defending champs Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina and four-time Grand Slam champions Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci.
However, the match-up likely to get the most attention will feature three-time Grand Slam runners-up Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua against wildcard entrants Martina Hingis and Sabine Lisicki. The 1999 Indian Wells titlist alongside Anna Kournikova, nine-time doubles Grand Slam winner Hingis is playing doubles here for the first time since 2000 and is making her 2014 debut after returning to the WTA doubles circuit in the summer of 2013.
