INDIAN WELLS, CA, USA - Cara Black and Sania Mirza are showing no ill effects from dramatic losses at their last two tournaments, having earned safe passage into the BNP Paribas Open quarterfinals with a routine win on Saturday.

Black and Mirza weren't able to convert on two match points against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Nadia Petrova in their quarterfinal loss in Doha and also had two match points in their first round defeat at the hands of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Safarova in Dubai.

But they got back on track with a straight set victory against Madison Keys and Alison Riske in their Indian Wells opener on Thursday and then two days later recorded a comfortable 63 64 triumph over another pair of Americans, Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears.

"We just went out there really focused," Black said. "We played really solid. We came off a couple of rough weeks, having match points and losing. We were just really determined to try to get our luck back. We played a great match against a great team, so we're very happy."

Their latest win improved the fifth-seeded Black and Mirza to 15-4 as a duo.

"Our first match in Indian Wells was really good," said Mirza, a champion here in 2011 alongside Elena Vesnina. "And to win today against such a tough team shows we're improving with every match. I think we played a pretty good match."

Saturday's other doubles contest saw No.7 seeds Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua convert on five of six break point opportunities in their 61 63 defeat of Daniela Hantuchova and Arantxa Parra Santonja, the Australians' 30th win as a duo.

No.1 seeds Hsieh Su-Wei and Peng Shuai and No.2 seeds and defending champs Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina both player their second round matches on Sunday.
