MIAMI, FL, USA - Alla Kudryavtseva and Anastasia Rodionova bounced back from their Indian Wells disappointment to knock out No.7 seeds Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua in the first round of the Sony Open Tennis.

One month ago in Dubai, Kudryavtseva and Rodionova won their fourth - and biggest - title to date, but failed to build on this momentum in Indian Wells, where they slumped to an opening round defeat. And, despite an improved performance in Miami, a mid-match revival from Barty and Dellacqua looked like it would consign them to another early exit.

Kudryavtseva and Rodionova had other ideas, saving their best tennis for last to reel off five of the final six points of the match and snatch a 76(2) 36 108 victory from the jaws of defeat.

"In the match tie-break the tennis was just excellent, I thought," Kudryavtseva said. "We hit some amazing serves, some really good lobs - it was a really good all-court match."

"It's a really tough first round to play Casey and Ash - both are also Aussies and so that's definitely never easy," Rodionova added. "But I feel like we executed really well and stayed together as a team, especially at the end given we were down in the match tie-break and managed to stay positive and come back for the win."

No.5 seeds Cara Black and Sania Mirza very nearly became another big name casualty, spurning seven match points before finally seeing off Chan Hao-Ching and Chan Yung-Jan, 63 67(6) 108.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Julia Goerges and Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Oksana Kalashnikova and Alisa Kleybanova.
