CHARLESTON, SC, USA - Anabel Medina Garrigues and Yaroslava Shvedova needed just 57 minutes to see off the challenge of Marina Erakovic and Arantxa Parra Santonja and book their place in the semifinals of the Family Circle Cup.

A break in the very first game sent them on their way, and it was not long before Medina Garrigues wrapped up a one-sided opening set with three successive aces. This domination continued into the second, a run of four straight games helping Medina Garrigues and Shvedova close out the match, 62 61.

In the semifinals, they will face No.3 seeds Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears, who 24 hours earlier saved four match points during an epic match tie-break against Jelena Jankovic and Andrea Petkovic.

On the other side of the draw, Alla Kudryavtseva and Anastasia Rodionova will take on sisters Chan Hao-Ching and Chan Yung-Jan.

Kudryavtseva and Rodionova have been one of the form teams this year, winning titles in Brisbane and Dubai, and they looked in fine form on Friday, knocking out No.4 seeds Julia Goerges and Anna-Lena Groenefeld, 61 64.

"We started very well and were very aggressive in the first set," Kudryavtseva said. "In the second set, they picked it up a little bit, but we kept the intensity up, kept moving, kept communicating, and that was the key for us.

"We're feeling good. In the semifinals, we'll just try and do the same things we did today and hopefully we can get through to another big final."
