CHARLESTON, SC, USA - Anabel Medina Garrigues and Yaroslava Shvedova will square off with Chan Hao-Ching and Chan Yung-Jan for the Family Circle Cup doubles title on Sunday.

Medina Garrigues and Shvedova endured a major challenge in getting past third-seeded Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears in Saturday's semifinals.

After winning the first set, Medina Garrigues and Shvedova went up 4-0 in the second set tie-break to get within breathing distance of the victory. But the Americans rallied to force a match tie-break, where they got off to an 8-5 lead. However, then it was the Spanish-Kazakhstani duo's turn to rally and they won five straight points to seal the 75 67(5) 108 triumph.

As for the Chan sisters, they were up 62 31 on Alla Kudryavtseva and Anastasia Rodionova when Rodionova suffered a concussion and was unable to continue. That made the Chans the first pair of sisters and the first Taiwanese players to reach the final here.

"It's very special to get to the final of the Family Circle Cup as sisters," Chan Yung-Jan said. "The green clay is a challenge, and we've had tough opponents but we're happy to be playing well this week.

"We're good at communicating. We say everything we see and we feel. We know each other much better than other partners, which is a big advantage for us."

Medina Garrigues and Shvedova made the Charleston final in 2012 in their debut outing. They have since captured two WTA titles together. Medina Garrigues will be going for her 23rd WTA doubles title and Shvedova her 11th.

The Chans have one WTA title as a duo. Chan Hao-Ching is seeking her third WTA doubles title and Chan Yung-Jan her 11th.
