WTA Diary: Petko's Back
Andrea Petkovic

Every week there's a lot happening on the WTA - on the court, off the court, by the numbers, even a few tweets... catch up on it all in this week's WTA Diary.

Petko's Back
For Andrea Petkovic, the last few years have been a hard slog as two serious injuries precipitated a fall from the heady heights of No.9 in the rankings all the way down to the darkest depths of the Top 200. And after such an ordeal, she was understandably emotional when she capped off a rollercoaster week in Charleston with the biggest title of her career.

"I don't know why but I just sort of broke down," Petkovic said. "I was happy. Normally I don't cry when I'm sad - I cry when I'm happy, strangely, so it's weird, but I don't know. I was just so relieved and proud that I've come back from all these injuries, and I never thought I would play in the finals of the big tournaments again, and so I was just proud and happy and everything just sort of came together."

She also chose the occasion to reintroduce the world to the Petko dance.

Here's what the WTA had to say about her return to winning ways.

Pull Shapes
Fittingly, Petkovic was not the only one getting into the swing of things in Charleston. Meanwhile, south of the border, Jovana Jaksic marked her WTA breakthrough by busting out a few shapes too.

Feeling Old
In Charleston, junior star Belinda Bencic upset Maria Kirilenko, Elina Svitolina and Sara Errani to reach her maiden WTA semifinal. As a result of her run, on Monday Bencic broke into the Top 100, becoming the first player born in 1997 or later to achieve the feat.
