Roberta Vinci continued her revival with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Yanina Wickmayer in Oeiras on Wednesday.

OEIRAS, Portugal - Fifty-three minutes was all it took for No.4 seed Roberta Vinci to complete a straight set win over Yanina Wickmayer on Wednesday and book her place in the quarterfinals of the Portugal Open.

The Plot
Vinci touched down on the Iberian Peninsula still searching for her best tennis after a difficult start to the year. A string of first round exits left Vinci waiting until Indian Wells to register her first win, placing her place in the Top 20 under serious threat heading into the European clay court season.

Like Vinci, 2009 champion Wickmayer has been short of form lately, with her win over Urszula Radwanska on Monday ending a three-match losing streak.

The Turning Point
If Vinci was short on confidence, she hid it well against Wickmayer, racing through the opening set in just 21 minutes. The domination continued into the second, and while Wickmayer did belatedly manage to get on the scoreboard, it was merely delaying the inevitable, Vinci soon serving out to wrap up a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

"Today, I played a solid game and even though the score looks easy, she was always making it tough for me," Vinci said. "It was very windy so I knew I had to focus every point and even when I was under some pressure I maintained my level."

What's Next
Facing Vinci for a place in the semifinals will be No.8 seed Elena Vesnina or Bojana Jovanovski.
