April 2014 WTA Player Of The Month Finalists

Andrea Petkovic: Petko had a stellar month going 7-1, winning Charleston, her first career WTA Premier title. There she defeated two Top 20 players (Sabine Lisicki and Eugenie Bouchard) en route to the final where she beat Jana Cepelova in straight sets. Following Charleston she helped lead the German Fed Cup team past Australia and into their first Fed Cup final in over 20 years.

Ana Ivanovic: Ivanovic continued her resurgence with an excellent month. Ana went 9-1, winning her second title of the year in Monterrey, backing that up with an appearance in the Stuttgart final - her first WTA Premier final since 2009. In April Ana recorded three Top 20 wins (Caroline Wozniacki, Sabine Lisicki and Jelena Jankovic).

Maria Sharapova: Sharapova only played one tournament in April, but captured the title in Stuttgart. There she defeated three Top 15 players (Agnieszka Radwanska, Sara Errani and Ana Ivanovic). In the final against Ivanovic she trailed by a set and 3-1 before reeling off 11 of the last 13 games to win the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix crown for the third straight year. It was Sharapova's first three-peat of her career.
