WTA Diary: Farewell To Bally
Elena Baltacha

Every week there's a lot happening on the WTA - on the court, off the court, by the numbers, even a few tweets... catch up on it all in this week's WTA Diary.

Remembering Bally
At the Mutua Madrid Open, the tennis world paid its respects for Elena Baltacha, who died in the early hours of Sunday morning, after losing her short battle with liver cancer.

The BBC, Daily Mail and Tennis Space all penned touching tributes, while many, many more took to Twitter to leave their own memories of one of tennis' true warriors.

Next month, Andy Murray, Martina Navratilova, and Tim Henman will be among those taking part in the 'Rally for Bally' fundraisers at Queens and the Aegon Classic, in Birmingham. Proceeds will go to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and The Elena Baltacha Academy of Tennis.

All Quiet
The opening few rounds in Madrid passed without too many shocks, with Dominika Cibulkova the only notable casualty. Maria Sharapova was given a bit of a scare, though, rallying from 4-1 down in the decider to defeat Christina McHale.

Serena, Rafa And The Saint
Serena Williams and Agnieszka Radwanska joined Rafael Nadal and friends for the tournament's charity day. Check out some of the photos from the evening here.

Walkies
Ahead of her title defense, Serena took in the sights of the Spanish capital with her dog, Lorelei.
