BRADENTON, FL, USA - Maria Sharapova kicked off her clay court season with a bang, defeating three Top 15 players including Agnieszka Radwanska, Sara Errani and Ana Ivanovic en route to her third straight Porsche Tennis Grand Prix title.

For that reason, Sharapova has been named the WTA's Player Of The Month for April.

It was Sharapova's first three-peat of her career. Defeating Ana Ivanovic in the final this year, Li Na last season and Victoria Azarenka in 2012.

What were her thoughts on a new accomplishment?

"It's really special, and it's extra special for me because the tournament is here," Sharapova, a Porsche Brand Ambassador, added. "I feel like I'm a small part of the Porsche family. It's been an incredible few years at this tournament."

Sharapova also jumped two spots to tenth place in the Road To Singapore leaderboard for the season-ending BNP Paribas WTA Championships Singapore presented by SC Global.

Sharapova narrowly edged out fellow Player of the Month finalists, receiving 44% of the fan vote. Ivanovic earned 40%, and Petkovic rounded out the group, collecting 16%.
