Rome Tuesday: Li Looks For 500th Win
Li Na

ROME, Italy - Li Na will be going for a landmark victory at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia, while Dominika Cibulkova will seek to stave off the upset bid of a player who is no stranger to Top 10 wins.

Tuesday, Second Round

Centrale
[2] Li Na (CHN #2) vs. [Q] Casey Dellacqua (AUS #53)
Head-to-head:
Li leads 4-0
Li Na will be looking to improve to an impressive 25-4 on the season when she takes on Casey Dellacqua, but more importantly she is going for her 500th professional match win. If she is successful, she will be one of 12 active players with at least that many. She lost a tight three-setter to eventual champion Maria Sharapova in her 2014 clay court debut last week in Madrid but maintained her spot at No.1 on the Road To Singapore leaderboard.

This is Dellacqua's first clay court event of the season, but she has some momentum after winning two qualifying matches here and edging Magdalena Rybarikova in the first round of the main draw. She is seeking her second Top 10 win, having previously beaten World No.9 Marion Bartoli at Roland Garros in 2008. Though she has never mustered a set against Li, this will be their first clash on clay.

First Round

[10] Sara Errani (ITA #11) vs. [Q] Chanelle Scheepers (RSA #91)
Head-to-head:
Errani leads 3-0
Though Sara Errani has never lost to Chanelle Scheepers, all three of their encounters have been tight three-setters. She will have the pressure of defending semifinal points from last year, when she achieved her best Rome result to date.

Scheepers may not have Errani's clay court résumé, but she did have her best outing of the year on clay in reaching the semifinals of Bogotá last month. She was in top form in her two qualifying matches here, losing just five games combined. She is looking for her third Top 20 win, with her best so far coming over No.17 Flavia Pennetta in Montréal in 2012 via retirement.

The victor will take on the winner of Ekaterina Makarova and Roberta Vinci, creating a compelling scenario if doubles partners Errani and Vinci both come through.

Pietrangeli
[9] Dominika Cibulkova (SVK #10) vs. [WC] Camila Giorgi (ITA #54)
Head-to-head:
first meeting
Though she suffered an upset loss to Samantha Stosur in her Madrid opener last week the day before turning 25, Dominika Cibulkova still comes into her Rome opener fourth on the Road To Singapore leaderboard and in search of her 25th win of the season.

Giorgi is playing the main draw here for the first time but she actually made her WTA debut here in 2008 in qualifying. This will also be her 2014 WTA main draw clay court debut, having lost in qualifying last week in Madrid. She made her first WTA final last month in Katowice and is unlikely to be intimidated taking on a Top 10 player, considering she is 3-2 against such opponents - with wins over No.7 Errani at Beijing in 2012, No.8 Caroline Wozniacki at the US Open in 2013 and No.5 Sharapova at Indian Wells earlier this year.

Also on court...
No.5 seed Petra Kvitova plays Zhang Shuai, No.7 seed Angelique Kerber squares off with Petra Cetkovska and Carla Suárez Navarro will break her tie with Agnieszka Radwanska for most WTA match wins in 2014 if she can get past Mona Barthel.
