ROME, Italy - Jelena Jankovic's love affair with Rome continued, as the two-time champion here returned to the semifinals with a victory over World No.3 Agnieszka Radwanska.

The Plot
Another title for 2007 and 2008 Internazionali BNL d'Italia champion Jankovic would give her a chance to return to the Top 5. But standing in her way of getting closer to that goal was Radwanska, who had beaten her five straight times. That being said, Jankovic's one win did occur in their one previous meeting on clay - at Roland Garros in 2008.

The Turning Point
The sixth-seeded Jankovic broke Radwanska in the first game of the match, and with each player holding serve the rest of the first set, that was enough to take the set. Radwanska finally broke Jankovic to go up 4-2 in the second set, but Jankovic promptly reeled off four straight games to secure the 6-4, 6-4 triumph.

By The Numbers
Jankovic was three of seven on break point opportunities compared to one of five for Radwanska. She also had a slightly better winners-to-unforced-errors ratio, with 30 winners and 24 unforced errors, while Radwanska had 20 winners and 17 unforced errors. It was Jankovic's 20th win against a Top 5 opponent and her first of 2014.

Quotes
"Today I played well tactically," Jankovic said. "I was able to wait for my chances and execute my shots at the right time, which was very important. The rain made the courts a little slower, and I thought that suited her more than me, but I handled that well.

"Tomorrow against Errani it's going to be a very tough match. She's the local favorite and will have the crowd on her side, but I already experienced that against Pennetta, so I know what to expect. It's going to be a physical match. I have to stay focused and calm and try to play my game and do what I do best.

"It's so wonderful to have three Serbs in the semifinals since Novak won as well. Hopefully, we can all win and have three finalists. I wish them a lot of luck."

What's Next
Jankovic takes on 10th-seeded Sara Errani, whom she is 1-1 against.
