Saturday, Semifinals

Centrale
[1] Serena Williams (USA #1) vs. [11] Ana Ivanovic (SRB #13)
Head-to-head: Williams leads 4-1
Williams had won all four matches and all eight sets she had played against Ivanovic until a shocking loss to her in the fourth round of January's Australian Open, so she will be looking to put that defeat behind her.

"I hate to use revenge as motivation," Williams said. "I just do the best I can. If I win, great, and if I don't I am going to get ready for the next couple of weeks. I've thought about that match but now I am in different stage of my life and I just want to focus on the right things and I think that is what matters now."

Ivanovic, who has two wins over a reigning World No.1 under her belt, has a chance to break the three-way tie she is in with Agnieszka Radwanska and Carla Suárez Navarro for most wins on the WTA this season, each of them with 30. Two-time Rome champion Williams is in the midst of a 12-match winning streak here, and in fact hasn't dropped more than three games in a set in her last 21 sets at this event.

[6] Jelena Jankovic (SRB #8) vs. [10] Sara Errani (ITA #11)
Head-to-head:
Tied 1-1
Jelena Jankovic and Sara Errani are both coming off monumental wins in the quarterfinals. Jankovic beat World No.3 Agnieszka Radwanska for her first Top 5 win of the season, and Errani topped World No.2 Li Na for the first Top 3 win of her career.

Jankovic, a two-time Rome champion and one-time runner-up, is back in the semifinals here for the first time since 2010, while Italian No.1 Errani is into the semifinals for the second straight year to the delight of the local fans.

"The crowd will be on her side," Jankovic said. "When you play against a local player, you have to be ready for the crowd to cheer your opponent. I just need to stay calm, stay focused, try to play my shots, execute my tactics and stay strong out there."
