PARIS, France - No.4 seeds Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik and No.15 seeds Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond won their Roland Garros doubles openers on a Wednesday that saw three seeded duos go down.
Peschke and Srebotnik won their 10th WTA title as a pairing two weeks ago in Rome and came into this fortnight in second place on the Road To Singapore leaderboard. The 2011 Wimbledon champions needed just 58 minutes for a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Lauren Davis and Megan Moulton-Levy. They were seven of 10 on break point opportunities and most impressively won 18 of 20 points on their opponents' second serves.
"We had a good match today," Peschke said. "We were pretty solid, didn't miss much and tried to put pressure on them. We were successful with that.
"We're trying to deal with the cold and rain and everything, but so far so good. I hope the next match will be similar."
As for Huber and Raymond, the nine-time WTA titlists and 2011 US Open winners were 6-2, 7-6(4) winners over Petra Cetkovska and Iveta Melzer. Sixteenth-seeded Marina Erakovic and Arantxa Parra Santonja joined them in the second round with a 7-6(6), 6-4 victory over Klaudia Jans-Ignacik and Maryna Zanevska.
