PARIS, France - Maria Sharapova wasted little time booking her place in the fourth round of the French Open, steamrolling the unseeded Paula Ormaechea in just 51 minutes.

The Plot
With Serena Williams, Li Na and Agnieszka Radwanska out, Sharapova - one of just three former champions left in the draw - has been elevated in the eyes of many to the role of favorite.

The Turning Point
Aside from fending off a handful of break points before and after a brief rain delay, it was smooth sailing for Sharapova. The 2012 champion's return of serve was particularly destructive, allowing Ormachea to win just a single point on her second delivery throughout.

As the whitewash loomed, Ormaechea could only offer up a wry smile and a glance to the heavens. But there was to be no divine intervention, the Russian taking the last 13 points to seal the 6-0, 6-0 triumph.

Quotes
"I started off a little bit nervous, and I came back and I think she had another two break points when we came back after the rain," Sharapova said when asked about her fleeting moment of bother. "It was great to win that game, obviously get the advantage, and follow through with that.

"I thought as the match went on I started playing better and better, and it was great to get the win in the way that I did."

What's Next
In the last 16, Sharapova takes on the in-form Samantha Stosur, a straight set winner over No.9 seed Dominika Cibulkova. The two last met a few weeks ago, in Madrid, where Sharapova ran out a 6-4, 6-3 winner.

"I think this is one of her favorite surfaces to play on and a lot of her successes come on clay," Sharapova said about Stosur. "Despite my record against her and my victory a few weeks ago, this is a new match. I'm sure, you know, she's ready for the match against me, and I will be, too.

"I look forward to that challenge. She has a great serve, she uses the court extremely well, moves well on it."
