The first three set French Open final since Jennifer Capriati beat Kim Clijsters in 2001 was a thriller.

Sharapova's powerful forehand was on full display, but so was Simona Halep's mix of effective defense and offense.

When the dust settled, Sharapova had pulled out a 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-4 triumph.
