Maria Sharapova continued her tremendous clay court season by winning two of the game's biggest titles. First, the Mutua Madrid Open and then Roland Garros.

In Madrid Sharapova defeated three straight Top 5 players (Li Na, Agnieszka Radwanska, and Simona Halep). In Paris, she edged WTA Rising Stars Garbiñe Muguruza, Eugenie Bouchard and Simona Halep, all in three sets.

For that reason, Sharapova has been named WTA's Player Of The Month for May.

It was Sharapova's second Roland Garros title in three years.

What were her thoughts on an outstanding accomplishment?

"I can't believe it. I never thought seven or eight years ago that I'd win more Roland Garroses when I was 27 years old than any other Grand Slam. It's a dream come true. This tournament means so much to me!"

Sharapova also jumped nine spots to first place in the Road To Singapore leaderboard for the season-ending BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.

Halep received tremendous support in fan voting, receiving 291,000 of the 305,000 votes. Although we had to go with Sharapova who defeated Halep in both the Madrid and Roland Garros final.
