Tennis is a sport where words like 'bravery' and 'courage' are thrown around on a far-too-frequent basis. However, in Elena Baltacha, the WTA was graced with one of life's true fighters.

Having battled a chronic liver condition and several serious injuries throughout her career, Baltacha had to fight harder than most to make it to the top.

One person that knew better than most the mental fortitude that she possessed was coach and husband Nino Severino, who in an interview at Sunday's Rally For Bally praised the "incredible strength" she showed during her treatment for liver cancer.
