Min converted on all three of her break points as she cruised through the first set, and then facing a 4-2 second set deficit reeled off four straight games to finish off her 6-0, 6-4 victory over World No.23 and six-time WTA titlist Pavlyuchenkova. Her previous best win came via retirement over World No.31 Tamira Paszek at Charleston in 2013.

"I was able to draw a lot of confidence from last week and bring it over here," Min said. "I played pretty solid and I didn't make many errors and she made a few more. That was really the difference. I made more balls than her."

Just last week, Min made her first WTA semifinal in Bad Gastein, where she fell to eventual champion Andrea Petkovic in a tight three-setter. She had never before been beyond the second round of a WTA event and came into Bastad ranked a career-high No.114.

"This is my first time here, and it's amazing," Min said. "We had the mountains in Bad Gastein and now the beach here. It's a pretty cool turnaround."

Others winning their openers on Monday were Lara Arruabarrena, Chanelle Scheepers and Jana Cepelova, who came back from 4-2 down in the second set of her 6-4, 6-4 defeat of Swedish wildcard Rebecca Peterson - in the process snapping a seven-match losing streak.

Securing main draw berths with qualifying wins were Anett Kontaveit, Tereza Martincova, Laura Siegemund, Yulia PutintsevaRichel Hogenkamp and Gabriela Dabrowski.
