WUHAN, China - The Wuhan Open held a press conference on Thursday to announce their player field - and as it turns out, anyone heading to the new Premier-level event is in for a huge treat.

Among the star-studded line-up are the Top 2 players in the world, Serena Williams and Li Na. For Li it's going to be a special week, as she plays a WTA event in her hometown for the very first time.

"I'm so proud that my city is staging such a prestigious tournament," Li said. "I'm very excited about being part of such a strong field of players and I can't wait to play in front of my home crowd."

And the field doesn't end there with the reigning Australian Open champion - it continues on to such big names as French Open champion Maria Sharapova and new Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova.

Other news at the ceremony included the reveal of the tournament's title sponsor, Dongfeng Motor (so it's the Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open now). Sixteen other supporting sponsors were also announced.

Ticket sales were also launched on Thursday, with grounds passes costing 50 yuan per person and center court tickets between 100 and 1200 yuan depending on levels and sessions. To purchase tickets for the event fans can log in to the official website for tickets, www.4008702014.com.

The inaugural Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open will take place the week of September 21 at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center. Check out the tournament's website at www.wuhanopen.org.
