Even though current World No.1 Serena Williams and former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki are often competing for the same trophies on the WTA, they are close friends, and Wozniacki recently shared her thoughts on the friendship and on Williams in general.

"Serena is a great girl," Wozniacki said. "She is an amazing friend. She has always been there for me whenever I've needed her. And I'm there for her too."

Wozniacki complimented Williams' competitive spirit, which she has witnessed firsthand in going just 1-6 in their head-to-head.

"It's great that such an amazing competitor, after everything that she's achieved in her professional career, that she finds time to help out a friend who needs it sometimes," Wozniacki said. "She's an amazing person, a great friend and an awesome competitor. "

Wozniacki touched on Williams' attributes as a friend.

"She's loyal and is fun to hang around," Wozniacki said. "That's something that I think is very important in a friend."

Wozniacki also had kinds words for Serena's sister, Venus Williams.

"Venus has been on the Player Council for so many years, which makes her a huge role model for the younger players," Wozniacki said. "When you're on the council, you not only have to think about yourself but everyone else - basically the whole WTA.

"Venus has won so many Grand Slams, but she has always had her feet on the ground. She's always polite, nice and is a great person to be around. She's a great role model on and off the court."
