On This Day: Happy Birthday Vika

STANFORD, CA, USA - In Minsk, on Monday, July 31, 1989, a star was born. Victoria Azarenka, who would one day become the best women's tennis player in the world, was coming into the world.
Azarenka has achieved the two biggest goals in the sport - winning a Grand Slam title (she's actually won two of them, both at the Australian Open, in 2012 and 2013) and reaching No.1 (she ascended to No.1 on January 30, 2012 after winning her first Aussie Open and would spend 51 weeks there).
This year hasn't been so memorable so far for Azarenka. She came into the year as the World No.2 but after missing most of the first half of the season due to a foot injury she has fallen down to No.10 (and will fall out of the Top 10 if she doesn't make it to the semifinals in Stanford this week).
But Azarenka could very well come alive again now. The summer hardcourt season has always been one of her best stretches of the season - she has reached the US Open final the last two years, falling to Serena Williams in three sets both times, and 16 of her 17 career WTA titles have come on hard.
A few throwbacks to July 31, 1989...
