Some players make their tennis breakthrough in a blaze of glory at a young age. For others, the path to the top is a slow and steady one.

Shelby Rogers has taken the second route and judging by recent results it doesn't seem to be doing her any harm. Tennis website The Changeover caught up with Rogers in Washington to talk about her Bad Gastein breakthrough, passing up college and her love of clay.
