July 2014 WTA Rising Star Of The Month Finalists:

Simona Halep: Halep only played one tournament in July, but it was a very special one. The inaugural Bucharest Open in her homecountry of Romania. Halep completed her dream week by defeating second seed Roberta Vinci in the final. It was Halep's second title of 2014 and eighth of her career.

Elina SvitolinaSvitolina had a very busy July playing three tournaments. The 19-year-old's biggest highlight was defending her Baku Cup title. Svitolina did not drop a set en route to the semifinals, there she edged veteran Francesca Schiavone in a tight three set battle. She then defeated fellow WTA Rising Star Bojana Jovanovski in the final for her second WTA title. Svitolina became the first teenager to win multiple WTA title since Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova did so in 2010 and 2011.

Kurumi Nara: Nara continued her breakout season with a dream run at the Citi Open. Nara opened her Washington DC campaign with an impressive win over fellow WTA Rising Star Madison Keys. She then made it all the way to the final before failling to Svetlana Kuznetsova in a tough three set battle.
