The last two matches of the first round saw Michaella Krajicek and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova upend seventh-seeded Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic, 6-4, 3-6, 10-6, and Garbiñe Muguruza and Carla Suárez Navarro record a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Canadian wildcards Francoise Abanda and Stéphanie Dubois.
