DOHA, Qatar: Top seed Angelique Kerber crashed out of the Qatar Total Open, turning in an error-strewn performance to allow Daria Kasatkina a 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 win - and a place in the quarterfinals against Monica Puig.

"It's my second year on the WTA Tour, so I have to grow up!" laughed Kasatkina in her on-court interview after the match.

"I am happy that I went through this and I am in the quarters."

The former World No.1 missed six break point chances in the first set, and Kasatkina was very happy to capitalise.

Kerber regrouped for a superlative second set, dismantling her opponent's game to get herself back on level terms.

The young Russian was not to be brushed aside, though, and was resurgent in an impressive decider.
