INDIAN WELLS, CA, USA - Timea Babos comes to the BNP Paribas Open as the No.25 seed, not far from a career-high ranking after a year of impressive results.

By her side through the ups and downs has been coach Thomas Drouet. The Frenchman worked with countrywoman Marion Bartoli on her way to winning Wimbledon back in 2013, and paired up with Babos soon after, coaching her into the Top 100 and through major doubles successes with partners Kristina Mladenovic and Yaroslava Shvedova.

"We've come a long way," he told WTA Insider. "She was No.125 when we started and wasn't confident at all. But we worked every day, as hard as we could. She's improved a lot, and everything is going well."

The pair endured a rough start to 2017, with Babos losing her first five matches of the season before things began to click at home. Taking home the inaugural Hungarian Ladies Open in Budapest, Babos feels back to her best in the California desert, and will begin her tournament against qualifier Varvara Lepchenko.

"There is no secret, no exact science. We have a strong relationship because we're honest with each other. When she's doing the wrong thing, I won't say it's good, and she likes this. She knows when I say something it's because I mean it, and that I'm going to be honest in good moments and bad moments."
