MATCH POINTS

Sevastova and Cirstea have played three times before - all on hard courts. The Romanian leads the head-to-head 2-1, but her opponent won the most recent match-up - in Brisbane earlier this year, when the Latvian triumphed 6-2, 6-1.

Sevastova was the runner-up here in 2016, losing to Simona Halep in the final.

Buzarnescu is second seed at this tournament after her impressive last 18 months, finishing runner-up at Hobart and Prague, and reaching the Birmingham semi-finals.

This is Buzarnescu's debut here.

Martic's only previous appearance in Bucharest was in 2015, and resulted in a first-round loss to Kovinic.
