MATCH POINTS

Most of today's singles clashes see the players meeting for the first time. Buzarnescu and Arruabarrena have met twice before - both on clay, and not since 2010. Bonaventure and Sorribes Tormo have played once - back in 2014, and the Spaniard won 6-2, 6-0.

This is Cirstea's second appearance in Budapest; last year she lost in the first round to Carina Witthoeft, 6-3, 6-2.

Sasnovich is also making her second appearance at the tournament, having made the quarterfinals in 2017, where she lost to Lucie Safarova, 6-3, 7-5.
