Voegele received a wildcard into the draw.

The Swiss star enjoyed a great run in Acapulco, when she lost in the final to Lesia Tsurenko, 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-2.

During her run there, she beat World No.13 Sloane Stephens in the quarterfinal, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.

Giorgi also has a win this year against the US Open champion, beating her 6-3, 6-0 in Sydney.

Flipkens's best win of the season so far was in the Miami first round, when she beat World No.39 Mihaela Buzarnescu in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.

Mertens reached the semifinal of the Australian Open, where she lost to Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 7-6(2).
