The Latvian is in her second successive Mallorca Open final. She lost in straight sets to Caroline Garcia this year, but avenged that defeat in this year's semifinals

Sunday is her first final of 2017, having lost in the semifinals in both Madrid and Dubai

Julia Goerges is also competing in her first final of the year, having also lost two semifinals in the calendar year previously - the German defeated in both Budapest and Auckland

Goerges has won just two of her previous six WTA singles finals - beating Timea Bacsinszky in Austria in July 2010 and Caroline Wozniacki in Stuttgart nine months later
