The fifth event of the inaugural WTA Draw Challenge, Montréal, is in the books and it was a dead heat in the race to be Event Champion.
Ruizgabriel and Andrzejer each picked 41 of a possible 55 matches correctly, but Ruizgabriel won the tie-break by virtue of accurately selecting Agnieszka Radwanska as the tournament winner.
Ruizgabriel was on fire from the get-go, hitting on 20 of 24 first round picks. It was more of the same in the second round, with him correct on 12 of 16. The third round was not as productive, with him right on four of eight, though he did correctly pick Venus Williams' upset of Angelique Kerber. He picked two of the four quarterfinal matches correctly, both semifinals and the final.
Previous Event Champions were Luke Anderson for Indian Wells, Adriano for Miami, Rjgib101670 for Madrid and Craigpross for Rome.
Cincinnati is underway now, and after that the Draw Challenge will continue at other Road To Singapore events in Wuhan, Beijing and at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global. Whoever accumulates the most points through all nine tournaments will be named Season Champion and will receive special recognition.
Paola is currently in first place for the season with 242 points, but there are 15 competitors within 10 points of her.
