MATCH POINTS

2013 champion Agnieszka Radwanska holds a 2-0 head-to-head lead over 2015 champion and No.7 seed Irina-Camelia Begu. The Pole's victories have come in the second round of the 2013 Australian Open 6-3, 6-3 and the third round of Miami 2015, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

No.1 seed Jelena Ostapenko has played Ekaterina Alexandrova twice previously, both in ITF events in 2015 - the year the Latvian soared into the Top 100 for the first time. Ostapenko won their first tilt in the Kreuzlingen quarterfinals on carpet 6-3, 6-3, but retired while trailing Alexandrova 7-5, 3-2 in the first round of Olomouc on clay.

World No.122 Ekaterina Alexandrova has been ranked as high as No.69, defeated players such as Ana Ivanovic, Caroline Garcia and Lucie Safarova (the Russian's three career Top 30 wins), notched up wins at each of the Slams and lifted the trophy at the 2016 Limoges 125K - but the 23-year-old is yet to reach a WTA quarterfinal. Victory over Ostapenko would seal her first, as well as being a maiden Top 10 win.

Priscilla Hon reached her maiden WTA quarterfinal in Seoul last year as a qualifier - and one year on, the Australian has qualified again and won her first main draw match since then over Jang Su Jeong. The 20-year-old will bid for back-to-back quarterfinals against Mandy Minella.

No.2 seed Kiki Bertens will face Dalila Jakupovic for the first time. The Slovenian owns a 2-1 record against Top 20 players, with all three matches coming in Birmingham this year: a win over Elise Mertens, a win via retirement over Naomi Osaka and a loss to Magdalena Rybarikova.
