HERNING, Denmark - Serena Williams may have won more WTA titles than anyone this year, but there's one player who won more WTA matches - and that player, Ana Ivanovic, outdid her at the Energi Danmark Champions Battle 2014 exhibition event in Herning, Denmark on Wednesday night.

Williams and Ivanovic traded huge serves and groundstrokes in front of a sold-out crowd of 7,000 at the Jyske Bank Boxen Arena, but unlike their WTA head-to-head - which Williams leads, 8-1 - this time it was Ivanovic who came through with the victory, prevailing in an hour and a half, 6-4, 6-4.

Both players had phenomenal WTA seasons this year, Williams capturing seven WTA titles - including her 18th Grand Slam at the US Open - and finishing as Year-End World No.1 presented by Dubai Duty Free, and Ivanovic winning four WTA titles, more matches than anyone with 58 and finishing No.5.

The night also included a doubles match featuring ATP World Tour teams - Horia Tecau and Robert Lindstedt against Jonathan Marray and Frederik Nielsen, a rematch of the 2012 Wimbledon final.
