NEW YORK, NY, USA - It has been quite a US Open fortnight for players 30 and older. In fact, five have made the quarterfinals - breaking an Open Era Grand Slam record. Here are the five 30+ quarterfinalists and their ages at the start of the fortnight:
|Player||Age At Event Start|
|Daniela Hantuchova||30 yrs, 4 mos|
|Li Na||31 yrs, 6 mos|
|Flavia Pennetta||31 yrs, 6 mos|
|Roberta Vinci||30 yrs, 6 mos|
|Serena Williams||31 yrs, 11 mos|
Speaking of 30+, if Li, Pennetta or Williams is crowned, they will be the Open Era's oldest US Open champion, breaking the record of Margaret Court, who was 31 years and one month old when she won the 1973 US Open. Williams already became the Open Era's oldest French Open champion at 31 years and eight months earlier this year. On top of that, she became the WTA's oldest No.1 when she reclaimed the spot in February at 31 years and four months.
