Every week there's a lot happening on the WTA - on the court, off the court, by the numbers, even a few tweets... catch up on it all in this week's WTA Diary.
It's been a good few days for the home nation in Rome, with wins for Sara Errani, Flavia Pennetta, Francesca Schiavone and Camila Giorgi. Schiavone and Giorgi were particularly impressive, tapping into the energy of the Foro Italico crowd to outplay seeds Eugenie Bouchard and Dominika Cibulkova.
No.3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska won't get her Rome challenge underway until Wednesday, and when she does, she'll be wearing this floral number. Off the court, Aga's been glamming up for the new Lexus ad.
Up In The Air
While Maria Sharapova's preparation for the French Open couldn't be going better, the same cannot be said for defending champion Serena Williams. After pulling out prior to her quarterfinal in Madrid because of a thigh strain, the World No.1 is a doubt for this week's Internazionali BNL d'Italia.
'"I'm taking it a day at a time," she said during her pre-tournament press conference. "We'll see as the week goes on. I have the rest of the day off and I'll see how I feel tomorrow. I hit some balls today a little bit so I'm going to see later tonight how it feels."
And while waiting for that troublesome thigh to heal, she paid a visit to the nearby Stadio Olimpico.
