ST. PETERSBURG, FL, USA – The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) announced today the launch of WTA Fantasy Tennis, home to a free-to-play fantasy game called the Porsche Race to Singapore Challenge.
“We are excited to bring WTA Fantasy Tennis to tennis fans all over the world to test their skills and show their knowledge of the game, involving them in the sport like never before,” said WTA CEO and Chairman Steve Simon. “Fan engagement is at the heart of what we do at the WTA, and the Porsche Race to Singapore Challenge will add a new dimension in how fans can access women’s tennis and be part of the exciting WTA story throughout the season.”
WTA Fantasy Tennis is available now on desktop and mobile devices directly at www.wtatennis.com/fantasy. Fans can join by playing in the Porsche Race to Singapore Challenge which will bring tennis fans from around the world on the WTA journey and position them closer to the action than ever before. Fans can compete in two challenges within the game:
- Season Challenge – predict the eight players that will qualify for the season-ending BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.
- Tournament Challenge – predict the top four best performing players at select WTA Premier level and Grand Slam events.
In both challenges, participants earn points based on the on-court performance of the WTA players they have selected. Points are based on their selected player’s earned WTA ranking points at each tournament. The Tournament Challenge is divided into three swings throughout the season, with a winner for each swing and capped off with a grand prize winner combining both Tournament and Season Challenge success, receiving WTA experiential prizes (applicable only for eligible participants).
Fantasy participants will also be able to make both public and private leagues of any size to compete with friends or other fans around the world. An ongoing global leaderboard will track user success throughout the season.
“Women’s tennis is continually growing all over the globe. At the same time, the element of fantasy is becoming an increasingly important factor across all sports, within the fan base enhancement process,” said Oliver Eidam, Director Brand Partnerships & Sponsoring at Porsche AG. “The Porsche Race to Singapore Challenge is another important building block in our successful partnership with the WTA and offers fans the chance to maximize their passion for women’s tennis, being part of an attractive competition. It intensifies their bond with the WTA and the players over the course of the whole tennis season.”
Fans can start playing WTA Fantasy Tennis now, with the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy the week of January 29 and continue through to the Kremlin Cup in Moscow during the week of October 15, 2018.
