LOS ANGELES, CA, USA - Two of the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour's biggest stars were nominated for the 2010 edition of AskMen.com's Top 99 Most Desirable Women list and on Tuesday, January 19 it was announced Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic placed at No.65 and No.71, respectively.
Sharapova, who has three Grand Slams to her name at 2004 Wimbledon, the 2006 US Open and the 2008 Australian Open, and Ivanovic, who won the 2008 French Open, are two of the most popular Tour stars. Both are former No.1s.
AskMen.com has been compiling the Most Desirable Women list since 2001. The highest a tennis player has ever placed was Sharapova's No.31 in 2006.
After six million votes were cast, actress Emmanuelle Chriqui - best known for her work on the TV series Entourage - claimed the No.1 position. Victoria's Secret model Marisa Miller was No.2 and actress Kate Beckinsale was No.3.
"Hearing what the Top 99 vote is made of is the biggest compliment of all because it's not just about being 'hot' but about being a well-rounded woman,' Chriqui said. "That's really empowering and is just a massive compliment to me - people recognize that I care about other things."
"It's refreshing to see a respected but relatively low-profile actress top the Top 99, while many of the tabloid regulars didn't even make it," said James Bassil, editor-in-chief of AskMen.com. "To me, this outcome really reflects what is unique about our annual list: that it is a real indicator of the kind of women that men want, rather than simply those ones that we are continuously exposed to."

AskMen.com's Top 99 Most Desirable Women is compiled annually. Voters are asked to look beyond sex appeal to pick women who have characteristics they value in a potential companion, like intelligence, humor, charisma and ambition. The list ends up identifying what modern men desire most in companions.
