Serena Williams and Coco Vandeweghe posed before the first all-American final on the WTA since 2009.

Coco Vandeweghe came out firing - the young American built a 5-3 first set lead with set point at 5-4.

But Serena Williams wasn't about to go down a set, winning four games in a row to take the set, 7-5.

Serena Williams rejoiced after completing a 75 63 win in her first career meeting with Coco Vandeweghe.

Serena Williams won her 43rd WTA title, equalling sister Venus for most WTA titles among active players.

Coco Vandeweghe had become the first lucky loser to make it to a WTA final in seven and a half years.

Marina Erakovic and Heather Watson won the doubles title - it was Watson's first WTA title of any kind.

A few Bank of the West brown bears were present at the ceremony. One was more aggressive than the other.
