Agnieszka Radwanska was the first winner of the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships - Istanbul 2012.

Agnieszka Radwanska won the first seven points and first three games and ended up rolling, 63 62.

Petra Kvitova had won 25 indoor hardcourt matches in a row, and was 3-0 against Agnieszka Radwanska.

And Petra Kvitova would fall to 0-5 against Top 5 players this year with the straight set defeat.

Agnieszka Radwanska also improved to 5-0 against left-handers this year, not losing a set, either.

Serena Williams followed with a 64 61 win over Angelique Kerber, avenging a loss to her in Cincy.

Just like last year, the fan support was simply fantastic at the Sinan Erdem Arena in Istanbul.

Maria Sharapova and Sara Errani - who were born just 10 days apart - were last on court on Day 1.

Maria Sharapova beat Sara Errani, 63 62 - a repeat of their only previous scoreline at Roland Garros.

Sara Errani fell to 0-22 against Top 5 players - she does have two wins over World No.6s, though.
