Over on Ken Rosewall Arena, Kimiko Date-Krumm was battling with Agnieszka Radwanska.
Agnieszka Radwanska came out on top however, beating the Japanese veteran, 64 63.
Angelique Kerber came from 5-2 down in the second set to beat Galina Voskoboeva, 62 75.
Li Na didn't seem to have any trouble with the heat, routing Ayumi Morita, 61 60.
As the day went on the conditions heated up, and Caroline Wozniacki battled through it.
Former No.1 Caroline Wozniacki and former No.2 Svetlana Kuznetsova went to three sets.
Svetlana Kuznetsova got the better of Caroline Wozniacki in the end, 76(4) 16 62.
