The draw ceremony took place on Saturday. Yanina Wickmayer was joined by three former champions.
Marion Bartoli, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Timea Babos - the only three previous champions here.
Bartoli, who won the inaugural Monterrey Open in 2009, made a special off-court appearance Saturday.
Bartoli had a hit with a competition winner from Heineken, the tournament's presenting sponsor.
Bartoli was interviewed for a local television station after the hit with the competition winner.
Bartoli will be looking for a good showing this week in her quest to return to the world's Top 10.
Stéphanie Dubois hit the practice courts on the weekend as she made her way through the qualifying.
Another player hitting the practice courts over the weekend was a very in-form Maria Kirilenko.
With Bartoli falling from No.11 to No.14 this week, Kirilenko moved up from No.13 up to No.12.
No.12 is her career-high - this is her second time there, having first gotten there last summer.
Kirilenko is here for the first time since 2009, when she retired second round with a knee injury.
The Russian, seeded No.3 this year, fine tuned her game in front of the gorgeous Monterrey backdrop.
