Fed Cup teams gathered around the world just ahead of the weekend, some for more glamorous business.
Down in Buenos Aires, the British Fed Cup team had dinner ahead of their World Group II play-off tie.
The weekend's World Group play-off ties included Spain against Japan, held over in Barcelona, Spain.
Japan's Misaki Doi was in action on Day 1 of the tie but fell to Spain's Carla Suárez Navarro, 63 64.
Suárez Navarro has had some very impressive results as of late - she recently made her Top 20 debut.
The second match of the tie saw Spain's Sílvia Soler-Espinosa outdo Japan's Ayumi Morita, 62 63.
The Spanish squad rejoiced after building a very tough 2-0 lead against the Japanese on Saturday.
In Koksijde, Urszula Radwanska and the Poles took on the Belgians in a World Group II play-off tie.
And in another World Group II play-off tie, the Brits faced the Argentines over in Buenos Aires.
Day 1 of that tie saw the teams split wins, with Laura Robson and Paula Ormaechea both prevailing.
Unfortunately, the World Group play-off tie between Australia and Switzerland was washed out...
And not just on Day 1, but on Day 2 as well.
Jarmila Gajdosova and Sam Stosur posed in front of the beautiful backdrop in Chiasso, Switzerland.
Over in Stuttgart, Serbia's Ana Ivanovic edged Germany's Angelique Kerber in a tight one, 75 75.
But the Germans would seal the World Group play-off tie, 3-2, winning the deciding doubles match.
Kirsten Flipkens and the Belgians lost their World Group II play-off tie against Poland, 4-1.
Katarzyna Piter and Alicja Rosolska won the doubles match. The Radwanska sisters played the singles.
And the Argentines would end up beating the Brits in their World Group II play-off tie, 3-1.
Meanwhile in the World Group semifinals, Russia edged Slovakia, 3-2, to move through to the final.
The Italians lead the Czechs, 2-1, but rain pushed the rest of the tie to Monday. Stay tuned...
