Agnes Szavay first turned heads in the pros with her first career WTA title at Palermo in 2007.
A few weeks later, she reached her first Premier final at New Haven, falling to Svetlana Kuznetsova.
She then reached her first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the US Open, falling to Kuznetsova again.
The biggest triumph of her career came a few weeks later at the Premier-level China Open in Beijing.
Szavay trailed a set and 5-1 to Jelena Jankovic in the final, even facing match point in that game.
But she came back from that deficit to win her second WTA title and subsequently break the Top 20.
Szavay reached another Premier-level final at Paris [Indoors] in early 2008, falling to Anna Chakvetadze.
Jankovic had been ranked No.3 at Beijing, but Szavay's win over a World No.3 in 2009 may be bigger.
Not only was it seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams, but it was at Roland Garros as well.
Szavay had eight Top 10 wins in all but the wins over Jankovic and Williams were her only Top 5 wins.
Szavay would eventually collect five WTA titles, this victory in Prague in 2010 being her last one.
After struggles with back injuries, Szavay was forced to retire from professional tennis in 2013.
