The top half of the draw was slated to play their second round matches, and it looked good early...
Li Na cruised past Sofia Arvidsson, and Agnieszka Radwanska had a good day at the office too.
But then, the dreaded R word...
Play was suspended due to rain for much of the afternoon, wreaking havoc on the order of play.
After a few hours it was back to business though, and the US Open courts were dried off quickly.
Whose shoes are these?
None other than Laura Robson's - the teenage No.1 got past fellow teen Caroline Garcia in straights.
Venus Williams, one of the most accomplished veterans on the tour, took on Zheng Jie in her match.
Williams has been sporting some very unique - and fabulous - fashions at the US Open this year.
But Zheng was up for the task, battling Williams for more than three hours on Armstrong Stadium.
Williams ended up falling to Zheng in a nail-biting three-setter between WTA veterans, 63 26 76(5).
