Saturday was Finals Day at the 10th annual Guangzhou Open, beginning with the singles final...
Vania King pushed Zhang Shuai to a 65-minute first set but once the breaker was over, it was over.
Zhang ran away with the match in the second set, winning her first WTA title by a 76(1) 61 scoreline.
Zhang is the fifth Chinese player ever to bring home a WTA title - and who were the first four?
Li Na, Zheng Jie, Yan Zi and Sun Tiantian were the first four to achieve the feat, in that order.
Zhang is the third of those to win their first WTA title in Guangzhou - Li in 2004, Yan in 2005.
The doubles final followed right after, with Peng Shuai and Hsieh Su-Wei coming out as the winners.
Top seeds Peng and Hsieh beat No.3 seeds Vania King and Galina Voskoboeva in a tight one, 63 46 1210.
Peng and Hsieh have now won eight WTA doubles titles together, including Wimbledon this year.
More impressive is that the Chinese-Taiwanese duo is a perfect 8-0 in WTA doubles finals together.
