Sunday night's singles final at the China Open saw the current World No.1 face a former World No.1.
There were plenty of Serbian fans in the crowd cheering on that former World No.1 - Jelena Jankovic.
Struggling with injury and after getting broken early in the second set, Serena Williams looked glum.
But the current No.1 player in the world reeled off five games in a row to close out a 62 62 win.
Jankovic is one of two active players to beat Williams four or more times - the other is Venus Williams.
This time Serena Williams got the better of Jankovic though, improving to 7-4 lifetime against her.
Williams became the first player to win 10 WTA titles in a season since Justine Henin won 10 in 2007.
Williams also got her 73rd match win of the year, the most since Henin and Kim Clijsters in 2003.
Williams now has 56 WTA titles to her name, now standalone seventh among all-time WTA title winners.
The doubles final took place Saturday night, featuring Vera Dushevina and Arantxa Parra Santonja.
Cara Black and Sania Mirza were just too tough though, winning by a 62 62 scoreline - like Williams.
A special guest came on the court for Black and Mirza's triumph: Black's one-year-old son, Lachlan.
Black and Mirza won Tokyo last week too - these were their first two tournaments as a pairing.
The Zimbabwean-Indian duo talked about practicing together in the off-season and playing 2014 together.
Black's husband, Brett Stephens, came on the court to join the celebrations with Mirza and Lachlan.
