The first semifinal of the day saw first-time Grand Slam semifinalist Eugenie Bouchard play Li Na.
Li had been to five Grand Slam semifinals before, including three right here at the Australian Open.
Could Genie's Army, who had been cheering and chanting her on all fortnight, help the Canadian?
Bouchard peaked mid-match - she won four of five games at one point - but Li was just too tough...
Li moved through to her third Australian Open final with a 62 64 victory against the young Canadian.
Next up was Agnieszka Radwanska, who had just upset two-time defending champion Victoria Azarenka.
Radwanska had also won five of her six career meetings against her semifinal foe, Dominika Cibulkova.
But Cibulkova was on her game from the get-go - she stormed out to a 61 40 lead and never looked back.
Cibulkova eventually stunned Radwanska in just over an hour, 61 62, to reach her first major final.
Cibulkova is the first player representing Slovakia, male or female, to reach a Grand Slam final.
